📘 Overview
This page explains which smartphones and operating system versions are fully supported when running mobile app tests on kapptivate. It also provides guidance if you wish to use your own devices, and highlights important compatibility considerations for both iOS and Android.
📦 Supported smartphone brands
We officially support the following manufacturers:
- Samsung (Android)
- Apple (iOS)
Samsung is the only Android brand we fully support. Some other manufacturers use customized OS layers that may interfere with mobile automation, potentially leading to reduced compatibility.
You may still use any device you already have, but please note:
- Any investigation required for non-Samsung Android devices will be deducted from your support package.
- We cannot guarantee full support if issues occur on Android devices from other brands.
💾 Minimum hardware requirements
- 4 GB RAM minimum
📱 Supported OS versions
- iOS: versions 11 to 26
- Android: versions 8 to 16

Important for Android 12 and above:
kapptivate cannot automate apps (or specific screens) that use FLAG_SECURE. When this flag is enabled, Android prevents automation tools from interacting with the protected content.
If the app you want to test uses FLAG_SECURE, please ask your development team to remove this flag for testing purposes.
